Richard is an engineer, disabled combat veteran, and Thai Boxing coach. After completing his time in service, successfully conducting operations in Afghanistan and South East Asia, Richard began studying Boxing and Muay Thai, while earning his Mechanical Engineering degree from California Polytechnic University Pomona. 

Drawing from his rich background in martial arts spanning over a decade and a fervent passion for design, Richard founded Barric Boxing. Over the course of half a decade, he dedicated his efforts to sourcing premium materials and delving into the intricate details of striking anatomy. This dedication culminated in the creation of the highly acclaimed Classic American boxing glove.

Reflecting on his journey, Richard shared, "I invested a significant amount of time in crafting the ideal glove that I personally wanted to use. Dissatisfied with the available options, I decided to make my own gloves. The outcome turned out to be very popular, and I am delighted that others can now share in the experience."

In an industry where many companies opt to outsource glove production overseas, like the Middle East or China, Richard firmly holds the belief that the path to creating the finest American boxing gloves necessitates a hands-on approach. He stated, "Boxing stands as an integral part of America's sporting heritage. While boxing legends have emerged from diverse corners of the world, some of the most iconic figures in the sport, including Mohammed Ali, Mike Tyson, Jack Johnson, and Jack Dempsey, have been American, contributing significantly to the sport's evolution. However, today, a staggering 99% of traditional boxing glove production has been moved overseas, erasing the knowledge passed down through generations. My mission is to play a role in revitalizing this forgotten industry and restoring the sense of pride associated with traditional American-made boxing gloves."
